Newly appointed Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador presents credentials to President Roopun

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Fayez Meshel Altemyat, presented his Credentials, to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, at the State House, in Reduit on Tuesday 07 May 2024. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to the United Arab Emirates, Mr Showkutally Soodhun.

In a statement following the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude and honour to have been entrusted this crucial responsibility by his Government.

Today, he underscored, marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between both countries as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia upgrades its representation to Ambassador level. This reflects my country’s willingness to enhance relations with Mauritius across all fields, Mr Altemyat pointed out.

Furthermore, he indicated that his primary objective as Ambassador is to exert comprehensive effort to strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between both countries.

On this note, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador reiterated his commitment to foster open and constructive dialogues with Mauritian officials on areas of mutual interest as well as to explore new avenues of cooperation in different fields such as trade, investment, education and culture amongst others.

Mr Altemyat stressed the necessity to work together with integrity and goodwill in order to build a brighter future for the two countries. On this score, he affirmed optimism and determination to embark on this new journey and to begin his diplomatic mission in Mauritius.
